About Us
About Us. Every Story.
Hi. My name is Jade and I'm lucky enough to be a mum to three beautiful little people, Emilia (5), Eliza (3) and Isaac (10 months). Alongside the chaos of what is mum life, I'm an Australian titled sports physiotherapist and have been working clinically in the pelvic health space for the past 11 years.
When people ask me why I chose to work in women's health, I say it was by ‘default’. In 2013, I moved back to my hometown on the NSW South Coast. Although I had experience working in gynaecological and maternity wards in big city hospitals, I had never worked as an advanced pelvic floor practitioner. At that time, there were no physiotherapists with pelvic health training in our area. Patients either had to travel outside the area for treatment or settle for local physiotherapists who weren't skilled in this area - their approach was simply 'cross your legs and squeeze.' For me, getting into pelvic health wasn't driven by a special interest or passion. Instead, I identified a significant gap in our local community and felt a sense of duty to complete the necessary courses so that I could provide this essential service.
I was still a relatively new pelvic health physiotherapist when I had a moment of clarity and finally understood the overwhelming despair that can be attributed to pelvic health conditions. I was seeing a new patient when she broke down—full body shakes, bawling her eyes out, and grabbed me in a full-body hug (not something I was used to in an initial consult in the sports world). She had an overwhelming sense of relief that someone had finally listened to her, she understood what was going on, and that I was going to provide her with treatment strategies. It was in this moment that I was hooked. I realised how lonely and debilitating living with a pelvic health condition can be, and how pelvic floor education and treatment can change someone’s life.
After 11 years, three babies, and significant professional development, I feel ready to educate the women who have been left behind. They say knowledge is power, and I believe that by sharing knowledge, we can empower others. My hope is to provide you with the right tools, including knowledge and quality products, to start your pelvic health journey. There is so much information out there that it can be overwhelming. Let me take the guesswork out for you. It is only through knowledge that we can effectively advocate for ourselves, giving us control over our own pelvic health narrative.
My Mission. Every Stage.
Every day, I witness women struggling with societal pressures and health professionals downplaying and normalizing their issues.
I’m here to tell you
- That just because incontinence is common (affects 1 in 3 Australians) that it is not ok to accept it as normal (at any stage of life) without receiving proper treatment.
- 1 in 5 people with a vagina experience pain during sex. Many of my patients deny experiencing pain during sex when I take their pelvic health history, only for us to discover later that they have been experiencing pain but have assumed it to be normal and not worth mentioning because it has been happening for so long (*there are treatment options available)
- To the 1 in 7 women with endometriosis, who typically take an average of 6.5 years from seeking help to receiving a diagnosis, I want to provide you with easily understandable knowledge so that you understand what’s normal and have the tools to advocate for yourself.
- To the 1 in 3 women who identify their birth experience as traumatic (physically &/or psychologically). I see you, I hear you and I know that you are screaming for education and transparency. I’ve got you – there is some great research out there for preventing perineal tears and how to recover from them.
- Oh, and just for the record, sexual health is important during all stages of life (post-menopausal women.. this includes you!) and shouldn’t be restricted to a door off an alleyway or a website that throws phalluses in your face.
And to the greater than 50% of women with pelvic floor issues who are yet to seek medical help, my mission as ‘dr google’ is to provide you with the right information and tools for success. When you're ready to seek medical help, you'll already have the confidence and a solid foundation to start your journey.
My Vision. Every Woman.
My vision is that the story of every woman, at every stage is listened to, and that we are all provided with opportunities to receive the best health care available.
Living with pelvic floor dysfunction is lonely. My vision is to create a pelvic health community where we share stories, we lift each other up and support one another.
Blossom Pelvic Health does not provide medical advice, and does in no way replace an individual assessment and treatment by a qualified health professional (*so if you have been thinking about it, let this be a gentle nudge/shove, to book the appointment now!). My hope is that if I empower you with knowledge, that you will be aware of the conditions that are out there and be able to take the next step in knowing that there is treatment available and finding the right health professional.
As a small family business, my vision it to be your one stop shop for your pelvic health needs. Supporting you throughout pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. By only selling products that I have hand-picked, researched and have either used myself or recommended to my patients, I can stand by my products as both a mum, and a health care professional.
Welcome to Blossom Pelvic Health.
